Lazy, Snowy, Blah
The snow part.
The lazy part is not posting since the 12th.
Although, is it really considered lazy if it's because I have been working more hours? Kinda, since I just veg at night...or read. Reading is good. And not lazy exactly since my mind is actually in the ON position. But the body, not so much.
The Blah. Well, sort of goes with the lazy, but not really. Just not feeling very creative. Not for sewing, embroidery or writing anyway. Actually, I take that back, yes on the writing. Just not here. My journal is getting pretty full up though :)
I can add photo taking to the blah. Which contributes to the posting less here. I don't like posting without pics. Perhaps I should just get over it. Or kick my son off the computer more often. The time he is most often on is when I would sit & do this stuff. Maybe someone could clone my computer so we each get our own? No? Pooh.
Since I did manage to take snowy pics, I'll throw a couple more out here for you. Enjoy :)

Embroidery Back in the Shop
The 2 weekend show at the Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti is now over and my embroidery pieces are back in the shop. Well, not all...thankfully.
I bid farewell to these two pieces, for they shall be missed...
But we can soon say hello to more of these....
I received a request for one from a previous customer who loved her first one. It has been on my mind to make some more anyway. Perfect timing :)

I love my serger!
I finally got one! Actually, I got it about a month ago. I have yet to do more than a simple serged edge and some rolled hems. Although the rolled hems did not quite work out as planned. I have forgotten about it a few times & just sewn like I normally do. It may take me a while to work it in naturally. But I'll get there.
Here she is....

Hello Sweetie
The Doctor has arrived! Well, at least his TARDIS has. That's Time and Relative Dimensions in Space for those of you unfamiliar with Doctor Who...which is a darn shame.
The TARDIS has been traveling around our area recently. Spending a couple days on different lawns. We were lucky enough to have it land this morning.
There is even a light on top that we can turn on tonight...how fun is that?!? I hope the timey-wimey noise box is still functional.
So where did this awesome piece come from? Well, the band director is a Whovian and at the last choir/orchestra concert...Hijinks and Hilarity... it was themed as such. They traveled throughout time to important dates in history musically. This TARDIS was on stage and "helped" them through their travels. They had lots of fun with that concert! It was near Halloween and the kids, um, young adults, dressed for the occasion. And my son, being the Doctor Who fan that is is, dressed up as one of the Doctors. Actually, he was a few different ones during the days at school also.
This is the TARDIS on it's first night ....

New Treasury
It has been a while since I made an Etsy treasury. I almost forgot how fun they can be. So thinking about, editing for, and listing of my new additions to the shop...I decided to peek around at other's embroidery pieces. These were some that really caught my eye.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Boo
The Zoo here puts on a Zoo Boo every year during October. Wyatt loves it. It happens after zoo hours. They have a path set out with displays and treat stations. It's a great way to get in some early trick-or-treating. And my little Mario loved it!
They even did up the reptile house. Most of the homes had something creepy in there other than the snakes.

And then there was the school parade. They all looked so cute!!! Wyatt was loving his mustache.

50 Pumpkins
It was a coworkers 50th last week and we had a bit of fun with it. There were 50 pumpkins set out on her desk in the Bridal area. I made these 4....
And yes, the tomato pincushion was a pumpkin...see....
And here is the desk with the majority of the pumpkins...

Really???
Why can I not get back here like I want? *grumble grumble*
This past week is explainable...tons of sewing for a costume party last night. Was it worth it? Heck yeah! We looked awesome...and got voted Best Costume :) I'll have to have someone send me a pic so I can show it off. I didn't even know what I looked like until I went into the ladies room....no full mirror at home.Okay, there is the one is Wyatt's room on the inside of the closet door. But when it's opened it blocks the light. Plus - I had not totally finished it when we left, so I couldn't peek. Did you know it's not easy to sew on buttons in a moving vehicle? Who knew!
But I really do want to get back here more. Really. Honest. I know I say it all the time. Heck, everything has slid by the wayside. Time to buckle up. I have about 30 embroidery pieces to photo and list. 30!!!
At least I still have my helper.
That was him after posing as I was testing the lighting for my embroidery. He got tuckered out. Getting in front of mom's camera is hard work.

Stormy
I have not been blogging regularly for quite some time now. Pretty much the summer...which also coincides with the new job. I still can't get over how much things changed around here with a part time job. Granted, a job that started at 20 hours a week but quickly expanded to 30. Good for the wallet, not so much for the house and biz.
I decided to start back to blogging with some catch ups.
The first is The Storm. Some pretty high winds...clocked in at 70 mph... ripped their way through here a few weeks back. Over 100 trees were downed and they collected over 3000 cubic yards of chipped wood!!!! And our city, and the affected area, is only a couple square miles. We were also without power for about 5 days. Good thing it was Labor Day weekend and we already had plans to be places that had power :)
It really was amazing to see the aftermath. We went out the next morning to go get some coffee and breakfast from somewhere with power. But we had to drive around a bit first. It was so quiet. And we were not the only ones. I saw plenty of people walking or riding through the neighborhoods doing the same thing.
100 year old trees just sheared or yanked right out of the ground. The number of homes with giant trees just laying on the ground with the base roots above ground was wild. Everywhere you looked the ground was just littered with leaves and branches. Actually, so were the homes and cars. For a few days you could still see leaves stuck to houses.
I can't get over the fact that more homes were not destroyed. So many homes near each other with trees littered all around...and so many that missed homes. Not that there was no damage, there was. There was a sea of blue tarps on roofs, but I did not see any just, gone. Cars, yes. Many a SUV looked more like a station wagon afterwards. Our neighbors car is still stuck under her crushed car port.
Here's a peek from my front yard...
And our backyard neighbors had a couple trees that just snapped. He didn't mind too much though since no one was hurt. He did not like them anyway :P
Those were just some quick pics from my house...and we just caught the tail ends of the wind shear. If you want to see some really cool pics from this storm, check out some these articles at The Ferndale Patch:

I hope to be back next week...and back as often as I used to :)
