Blogfire: Going WoW for Glass

Monday, September 13, 2010

I was supposed to write this last week....

I have been such a bad blogger, a bad Etsyblogger to be more precise. I have not done a carnival in quite some time. The subjects were interesting, I guess I just never felt like writing. I almost did last week's about goals and dreams throughout the quarters of our lives, but I realized I am way lacking in those areas.

I was never one to have big dreams of "I want to be/do this when I get older". I was raised with more of a grow up happy & enjoy what you do attitude. Everything else is just gravy. Were there things I thought I would like to do? Yes. Was I good at them? Not so much. I tend to enjoy things I do not excel at and only kind of like things I am good at. If I had a talent, like my oldest does with music, maybe I would have seen things differently.

Am I where I thought I would be at this quarter of my life? Well, that is the advantage of no majorly defined goals...yes, I am. I am happy. I have two wonderfully fantastic kids - which I thought I would want someday. So hey - a goal! A great hubby - which was never on my list, but darn it, the guy made me fall in love with him...men :P Job - well, not so much of anything there. I do love creating and hope to do more with that now that the little guy is in school. I would love to get back to painting. Maybe once I finish clearing out the basement.

I guess I do have one goal for now, two actually. The first is getting the biz going steady. I give myself this school year before I bow out & get a "real" job. The second - plan "Chunk Be Gone". I am off to a good start there. Getting back to veggie, walking kiddo to school & taking the long way home...next up - getting my big 'ol a$% to the gym. More on this fun ride later :)

BlogFire Carnival: My Fave Weekend Activity

Okay, so I missed the deadline...I had it set for the wrong day...but since it was written anyway....
My Fave activities? Not really sure if I have one. My weekends are not much different than my weekdays. The biggest difference is there are more people here (no school for the kids or work for hubby).
Ideally I would relax, do nothing, maybe go on bike rides. I will relax sometimes...as much as being a full time parent can let you relax. Do nothing...um, no. Need another 14 years until the youngest is out of the house for that one. Bike rides, sure...but always with a passenger. That activity won't need 14 years until I can do it alone...only about 10 until he can stay home by himself.
In the real world my favorite things to do are hang with my boys and sew. The summertime is almost like one big weekend for the hanging with the boys, so weekends don't feel like weekends just yet. Maybe in another week or two when both boys are in school.
The sewing part, well, that is not much different than the weekdays either I suppose. Maybe even less time spent because everyone is home. There are those times that the boys - I am including hubby in this - take off for somewhere & I get the house to myself for an hour or so. But in those moments - I tend to do nothing...and love every minute of it, usually with a good book.

Art Fire BlogFire: How-to

I have recently joined the BlogFire guild on Art Fire and right off, I have a blog carnival. The theme is "How-to". I wish I could have thought of a how-to of my own in time, but alas, there was not enough time. I do plan on doing one very soon though and will be thinking of my BlogFire buddies when I do it :)

We also had the option of sharing a how-to of someone else's that we have found helpful. This is great, now I don't feel like I wimped out. And bonus - the tutorial I will be sharing was one of the winners of my One World One Heart Giveaway.

I ran across her site during this great event (if you missed it this year, there is always next year). She makes great quilts and shares some great tutorials on her blog, Lola...again. The tutorial I want to share is her Binder Cover Tutorial. I have seen many tuts on this, but none that have the quilted aspect to it. This is what your final project will look like when you are done:

So what are you waiting for? Hop on over to Lola...again and get crafting!

What I am Working on Now...

Look down – now look forward…that is what I am working on the most lately. It is not what I should be working on the most though.

I should be working on this:

And I am. But slowly, very, very slowly.

I have a home party/show next Friday the 14th, a multi-home show that Sunday sponsored by the Huntington Woods Women League (“Shop for a Cause”), Ladies Night Out show in Bad Axe on November 20th, and possibly two more in December. I need to get my rear in gear and sew!!!! Not that I am expecting to sell out – I’d be ecstatic just to sell something – but I really should make sure to have enough stock on hand. I have not worried about taking pictures of these for etsy. I figure I will wait until after the shows – just incase.

I have signed up for Propay so I can take credit cards, ordered & received my imprinter and have started researching where to buy merchandise bags (need to order by the end of the day today!). So at least I have done something. If only I could tear myself away from the computer more...
